"Come Back To The 5 & Dime" DVD Delay Explained

Cher in 'Come Back To The 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean
We get to find out why 'Come Back To The 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean' has not yet been released on DVD.

What seems like forever ago, 'Cher News' reported that the lengthy-titled 1982 movie 'Come Back To The Five & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean' was going to be released on DVD.

One of its stars, Mark Patton, initially revealed the DVD release plans late last year, saying, "I just did my commentary for it - so it's getting ready to come out". However, we've heard nothing about the release since, and no reason has been given as to why the DVD hasn't hit stores yet.

Freinds: Mark patton and Bill Nugent
Thankfully, a friend of Patton, Bill Nugent, has explained the DVD's delay to us...

Before confirming his status as a friend of Patton - "Yes, he and I are friends. I also help out with the conventions he attends, etc" - Nugent explained why the DVD has not yet been released; "It has something to do with the music rights. When those are secure, it will be released."

He continued, "The release date has been given and then cancelled many times."

The movie - for which Cher received a Golden Globe nomination - is the only one of hers that has not yet been released on DVD.

  3. I wish they would also release the Broadway version on the same DVD. I mean wouldn't that be great. How many Broadway shows that the same cast when it becomes a film?
